Corrective jaw surgery, also called orthognathic surgery, is performed to realign the jaws and teeth when orthodontics alone cannot achieve proper function or balance.

At Longmont Oral, Facial & Implant Surgery, our surgeons are trained in corrective jaw procedures and work closely with orthodontists to ensure treatment is carefully planned and coordinated.

Common reasons patients may be evaluated for corrective jaw surgery include:

  • Open bite, underbite, or overbite not correctable with orthodontics alone.
  • Difficulty with biting, chewing, or swallowing.
  • Speech difficulties related to jaw position.
  • Jaw or facial imbalance affecting appearance and function.

Every patient’s case is unique. Our team takes time to explain the diagnostic process, review potential treatment options, and discuss what corrective surgery may involve.
